Mentoring:
Some years ago I helped mentor two young Griffith students, Jess and Alex O'Donnell, who live just around the corner. Jess has since graduated in accounting and journalism, ands now a chartered Accountant working in Sydney. Alex is doing a research doctorate in psychology after attaining honours in his bachelor degree.

Alex was the youngest candidate in the 2012 Gold Coast City Council elections, standing for Division 7. I helped with his media campaign and with general support and advice - some of which he actually followed.
Alex is a past president of Southport Apex and has volunteered with The Smith Family.

Jess sought some help with a uni assignment: a 1200 word feature article on a local topic. She chose the Gold Coast Street Library and her article - Helping the Homeless in more ways than one - earned her a distinction.
And, with Australia ranked third in the world for sexual assault, Jess looked into the issue from a local perspective.
